To date, there are three stand-alone novels (Outbound Flight, Choices of One, and Survivor’s Quest) three trilogies (Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, Star Wars: Thrawn, and Thrawn Ascendancy ) and one duology ( Hand of Thrawn).ģ. Despite being labeled a villain, Thrawn isn’t an evil or bad person: he simply felt the Empire was the better choice (as opposed to the Republic/Rebels) to serve as an indirect means of protecting the Chiss from harm.Ģ. He is seen as a brilliant strategist as well as a master tactician, admirer and analyzer of art, and highly respected by his crew. From there, Thrawn rose through the Imperial ranks to become a Grand Admiral. ![]() In terms of a brief, spoiler-free biography, Thrawn, a member of a race known as the Chiss, eventually caught the interest of the Empire when he was rescued from exile on an outlying world. ![]() To date, Thrawn has never been featured in any of the Star Wars films but became the main antagonist in the Star Wars: Rebels television series. Thrawn, whose full name is Mitth’raw’nuruodo, is a character originally created by author Timothy Zahn. With now three Thrawn trilogies all wrapped up, I thought it might be fun to tackle each one and see which one is the “best.” ![]()
